ON THE ISSUES

In just the last few years, prices for housing, healthcare, and basic needs have exploded. It isn’t ordinary inflation when every big company is reporting record profits. It isn’t normal for an entire generation to feel like home ownership will never be within their reach. Our government is out of touch with the reality that many Ohioans are facing. Last century’s solutions are not adequate, and we need a new perspective in the statehouse.
As your representative, I will fight for policies and legislation that restore the quality of life of everyone in House District 52, in Lorain County and throughout Ohio.
I don’t know when it became radical to say everyone deserves food, housing, medicine and education. Anyone who works, anyone who has worked their whole life to the point of retirement, should not be struggling for basic survival.

MEDICINE

Prescription drugs, doctor visits, and checkups must be accessible and affordable for all Ohioans. I’ve seen far too many stories of seniors cutting their pills in half or having to choose between filling their prescription or paying a utility bill. I believe healthcare is a human right, and we need to act with urgency to reduce the cost of every aspect of health.

FOOD

You aren’t alone in feeling like you are spending more money at the grocery store to buy less food. Wages have been stagnant while prices have skyrocketed, and some manufacturers are trying to charge more for smaller packages. We need big, bold action to raise the minimum wage, coupled with strong consumer protections against price gouging.

HOUSING

As a loan processor, I saw firsthand the obstacles people are facing when trying to buy a home. Mortgage interest rates are up. Cash investors swooping in and paying over market value drives up the prices and wreaks havoc on the neighborhood values when the tax assessor sends out bills. I will fight to make housing more affordable for the people who will live in the property, and harder to buy as an investor that plans to rent it out.

EDUCATION

Our local schools desperately need new buildings, but every ask to the voters in the form of yearly levies and bonds seems like another hardship for taxpayers to bear. No one should be in a position where they risk being priced out of their home due to tax increases, or they have to watch their kids or grandkids get a sub-par education because the city can’t pay for the resources they need. The state government knows that our current school funding is unconstitutional. It’s unfair that our community and our children are paying the price. I will make public school funding a top priority so that every child in every zip code gets a high quality education.
